Residents in Almaty felt a 2-magnitude tremor early in the morning.
According to the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the Seismological Research Institute recorded the earthquake at 03:23 Astana time on October 17, 2024. The earthquake’s epicenter was located in China, with a 2-magnitude effect felt in Almaty. No casualties or building damages were reported.
At 10:00 a.m. on the same day, a siren sounded, and a training drill was conducted. It’s worth noting that on October 16, a 6-magnitude earthquake was recorded in Turkey.
