Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu informed the United States that Israel is prepared to strike Iran’s military targets, as reported by The Times of Israel and relayed by the “Adyrna” national portal.

According to the report, Netanyahu made this statement last week during a phone conversation with President Biden, while discussing Israel’s plan to retaliate against Iran for the ballistic missile attack on October 1.

One source mentioned that the Prime Minister agreed to schedule the strike to avoid affecting the upcoming U.S. elections. An attack on energy facilities could lead to rising oil prices, which could damage Vice President Kamala Harris’s standing among voters unhappy with higher gas prices. According to an unnamed official, Israel’s response will likely occur before the November 5 election to avoid the perception of “weakness.”

Iran had previously warned Gulf countries that allowing Israel to use their airspace for such attacks would be considered an “act of war.”

It should be noted that on the evening of October 1, in response to an Israeli strike on Beirut that allegedly targeted Lebanese Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah, Iran launched more than 200 missiles at Israel. Tehran identified military infrastructure as the primary target and warned that it would respond again if Israel conducted another strike. Israel has vowed to retaliate, with Defense Minister Yoav Gallant stating that Iran “does not understand what happened to it or how it happened.”
