Before the start of construction of Kazakhstan’s nuclear power plant, residents were shown a model of the station. The presentation took place in the village of Ulken, Zhambyl district, Almaty region, reports Adyrna.

The image shows Power Unit No. 6 of the Novovoronezh Nuclear Power Plant, built by Russia’s Rosatom company. This is the world’s first Generation 3+ power unit.

“The new nuclear power plant in Kazakhstan could look like this. The design is not yet finalized, and the model is one of Rosatom’s previous projects,” explained a representative of Kazakhstan’s NPP project.

The cost of the NPP project is estimated at no less than $14 billion.

Civil activists and political analysts worry that if Russia builds the plant, Kazakhstan will become dependent on it, while the authorities deny this. Environmentalists are also concerned about the condition of Lake Balkhash.
