Starting from March 5, residents of Zaisan, Kurshim, Tarbagatai, and Samar districts will begin their workday one hour earlier, reports the national portal “Adyrna.”

According to Darkhan Zhorgekbayev, the akim (mayor) of Tarbagatai district in East Kazakhstan Region, the idea of shifting working hours by one hour was supported by residents of all 28 rural settlements in the district.

Zaisan district consists of 33 rural settlements with a population of over 35,000 people. According to district akim Aelita Akhmetsalimkyzy, the residents of Zaisan welcomed this proposal.

“Before making this decision, we held meetings in each rural district, and the people supported the idea. Since Zaisan is the easternmost district of East Kazakhstan Region, the sun rises earlier here, meaning daylight begins earlier. Therefore, starting the workday at 08:00 and finishing at 17:30 is very convenient for residents—it allows them to have more time for household chores, children, and family after work,” said the akim.

It should be noted that Zaisan district has eight rural districts and 33 settlements, with a total population of 35,219 people.

Since January 5, 17 villages in Katon-Karagai district have already switched to the new working schedule, with working hours from 08:00 to 17:30. Additionally, on February 24, residents of Markakol and Ulken Naryn districts also adopted this schedule.
