Berik Abdigali has been appointed to a temporary position

Former governor of Ulytau Region, Berik Abdigali, has been appointed as the acting director of the National Museum. The new director was introduced to the museum staff by Aizada Kurmanova, the acting Minister of Culture and Information, according to the “Adyrna” national portal.

Berik Abdigali was relieved of his position as governor on October 9, 2024, and Dastan Ryspekov was appointed as the new governor of Ulytau Region. Born on September 18, 1971, in Terisakkan village, Ulytau District, Karaganda Region, Abdigali was appointed as the governor of Ulytau Region in 2022 and previously served as a Member of Parliament.

The National Museum, officially opened on July 9, 2015, is the largest museum in Kazakhstan, located at the Independence Square in Astana.

It is also noted that one of the former directors of the National Museum, and former Minister of Culture and Sports, Arystanbek Mukhamediuly, is currently serving a sentence related to a corruption case.
