Kazakhstani boxer Gennady Golovkin has officially renounced the title of world champion according to the WBA version, the reporter of "Adyrna" reported.
The 40-year-old athlete did not agree to participate in the promotional trade of the fight with Cuban Erislandy Lara. So he left the belt loose.
"Now Gennady Golovkin will not participate in the mandatory fight approved by the WBA championship committee. According to our version, there is only one middleweight champion, and that is Cuban Erislandy Lara," said the World Boxing Association.
