A citizen named Miras Ermekuly has published a petition demanding a legal ban on Salafism and Wahhabism in Kazakhstan, the national portal "Adyrna" reports.
"In January 2020, in the cities of Aktau and Zhanaozen, it was reported that the NSC officers detained a group of supporters of the destructive religious movement of Salafism on suspicion of organizing a series of kidnappings to obtain money. In 2018, the National Security Committee of the Republic of Kazakhstan reported that Salafis extorted money from bus drivers in Atyrau region. In the last 20 years, there are so many such innovations that it is impossible to list them all.
