Now Kazakhstan has its own Cultural Center in China. Today, as part of President Kasym-Jomart Tokayev’s official visit, the grand opening ceremony took place.

The Cultural Center is located in Chaoyang District, right in the heart of Beijing — a very convenient location. This is the first Cultural Center of Kazakhstan to open abroad. The project was implemented as a result of the agreement between Kasym-Jomart Tokayev and Xi Jinping to establish cultural centers in both countries. It reflects the shared interests and close cooperation between the neighboring states in the field of culture and arts.

The Center has a unified structure and mission: to consistently promote Kazakh culture, history, language, art, and traditions. Covering an area of 620 square meters, it is spacious enough to host events at a high level. Inside, there is a library, a concert hall, and facilities for lectures on various topics. Special classrooms are dedicated to teaching the Kazakh language and music. In addition, the country’s tourism potential will also be showcased here.

The exhibition hall will feature more than 100 historical and cultural artifacts. Among them are relics from the Saka era, findings from the Issyk and Berel burial mounds, as well as items from other regions of Kazakhstan. Traditional musical instruments, women’s jewelry, household items such as chests, wooden dishes (astau), felt carpets (syrmak), and patchwork quilts (kurak korpe) will also be displayed.

“The most important thing here is that within the framework of this Center’s work, a class will be opened to teach our national instruments, especially the dombra. Secondly, there will be a class for teaching the Kazakh language. In my opinion, this is a great opportunity. Because here in China, for those who want to learn the Kazakh language or play the dombra, we are now providing great opportunities. As you can see, many people are already asking when it will open and when they can attend. The demand is very high, and there is strong interest. Therefore, I believe this will open a big path for promoting and reviving our culture abroad,” said Kazakhstan’s Minister of Culture and Information Aida Balayeva.
