Today marks the 80th anniversary of the birth of renowned film and theater actor, People’s Artist of Kazakhstan, and recipient of the Qurmet and Parasat orders, Kuman Tastanbekov, reports Adyrna.
The esteemed artist was born in 1945 in the Sarkant district of Almaty region. In 1969, he graduated from the Theater Faculty of the Kurmangazy Kazakh National Conservatory. Throughout his career, he played numerous significant roles on stage, including:
• Zhan in Qulynym Menin by O. Bokei
• The Pilot in Vietnam Zhuldizy
• Tanirbergen in Qan Men Ter by A. Nurpeisov
• Akan in Akan Seri-Aqtokty by G. Musrepov
• Shokan in Shokan Ualihanov by S. Mukanov
• Sauran in Ant by T. Akhtanov
• Alibek in Aiman-Sholpan by M. Auezov
However, it was his portrayal of Tolegen in the legendary film Qyz Zhibek that made him a household name. This iconic role cemented his place as one of the brightest stars in Kazakh cinema.
Kuman Tastanbekov passed away in 2017 at the age of 72, leaving behind an enduring artistic legacy.
