Kazakh Orientalist scholar Galiya Kambarbekova has been awarded the prestigious Farabi International Prize in Iran, reports the Adyrna national portal.
The announcement was made by Iran’s Cultural Center in Kazakhstan. The award ceremony took place on December 17 in Tehran, where it was presented by the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Masoud Pezeshkian.
Notably, this prize was awarded to representatives from only three countries—Turkey, the United States, and Kazakhstan—out of the world’s leading scholars.
The Ministry of Science, Research, and Technology of Iran annually organizes the Farabi International Competition, which aims to promote the development of Islamic humanities.
The prize seeks to support research and educational institutions working in theoretical and applied fields within the humanities.
Iran has two major international prizes: the Farabi International Prize in the humanities and the Khwarizmi International Award in non-humanities sciences.
This year, two Kazakh scholars were nominated for this prestigious award.
