The Shymkent court partially satisfied the demand of the Ministry of Defense. Thus, two soldiers and two officers found guilty were ordered to pay 23 billion tenge, the national portal "Adyrna" reported.
On August 26, 2021, a fire broke out in one of the engineering ammunition warehouses of military unit No. 28349, located at the Kainar road junction, Baizak district, Zhambyl region, which led to subsequent explosions. As a result, 18 people were killed, several people were injured, and the state and individuals suffered huge losses.
"The guilt of the defendants was proved by the acts of the court of appeal of the military court of the Shymkent garrison dated October 20, 2023 and the court panel of the Military Court of the Republic of Kazakhstan on criminal cases dated March 13, 2024," the report says.
As it was determined by the court that the defendants allowed a fire to break out in the technical area of the military department in the engineering ammunition storage warehouse No. 14, that is, a large amount of damage was caused by their actions, it was decided to pay the state 23,764,530,881 tenge for the material damage caused jointly.
The part of the claim on the collection of 1,328,507,355 tenge was dismissed due to lack of evidence.
The decision has not entered into legal force
