Starting from February 1, Kazakhstani drivers are obliged to install an SOS button on their cars when importing cars for their own needs, the national portal "Adyrna" reported.
On February 15, 2023, at the meeting of the Council of the Eurasian Economic Commission, a decision was made to extend the import of vehicles for personal service without devices or systems for calling emergency services to the territory of the EAEU. The decree, which was extended until February 1, 2024, will expire from tomorrow.
This applies to private vehicles of categories N and M (trucks and cars). Previously, car owners claimed that the button was expensive to install (about 25% of the cost of customs clearance depending on the year of manufacture), and that there were no chips and no components to make SOS buttons. Now, installing an SOS button costs about $500.
We remind you that the requirement to install an SOS button on vehicles manufactured in the territory of the EAEU and imported by official representatives of foreign manufacturers was extended for four years.
