In Zhambyl, officials embezzled funds allocated for drinking water

In Zhambyl region, the officials who embezzled the funds allocated for improving the quality of drinking water were convicted,  the correspondent of "Adyrna"reported.

The prosecutor's office of Kordai district found out that the ex-head of the department of housing and communal services stole 6.5 million tenge.

In the village of Sarybastau, the former head of the housing and communal economy department "M.", the director of the "Kordai su" MCC "K." and businessman "E." according to the document, he was supposed to build a water tower worth 12.3 million tenge. However, a detailed analysis and visual inspection of the site revealed that the water tower was not actually built.
During the investigation, it became known that the parties appropriated 6.5 million tenge, divided it among themselves, and left the villagers to use the water flowing by itself," explained the regional prosecutor's office.

The district prosecutor's office initiated a criminal case on this fact. By the verdict of the Kordai district court, the former head of the board was found guilty and sentenced to 8 years in prison. The businessman was sentenced to 3 years and 6 months of imprisonment.

The board announced that the money that was illegally embezzled was fully returned to the state. The sentence has not entered into legal force.
