Uzbek midfielder Nodirbek Bobomurodov, who trained in football in England, has transferred to the Afghan Premier League club Attock Energy. This was reported by the Asia-Sport Telegram channel, according to the Adyrna national portal.

Details of the contract have not been disclosed. Bobomurodov is set to become the first Uzbek player in the history of the Afghan Premier League. The footballer spent the last six months playing for the regional league club Three Bridges in England.

In addition to Bobomurodov, Attock Energy has signed several other foreign players, including Nigerians and Iranians. The club also announced the signing of Afghan national team striker Amiruddin Sharifi, who previously played in the Kyrgyz Premier League and became its top scorer.

It’s worth noting that the Afghan national team was recently taken over by Uzbek coach Usmon Toshev.

In recent years, professional football in Afghanistan has been revitalized. For instance, Alhaj Ahmad Shah Fakiri, the founder and owner of Pamir Construction Company, recently became the sponsor of Attock Energy. The club has launched a youth academy, maintains active social media presence, and has attracted foreign players from Iran, Pakistan, and Nigeria. Previously, foreign players rarely joined Afghan teams. Last season, Attock Energy became the champions of Afghanistan and participated in the AFC Challenge League qualifiers but lost to Kyrgyz club Abdysh-Ata.

Nodirbek Bobomurodov, born in Bukhara, moved to England at the age of 8, where he began playing football. He trained at the Crystal Palace Academy and played for lower league clubs in England. In 2023, he moved to Surkhan Termez but struggled to establish himself during his six-month stint.
