In Karaganda, a truck transporting stolen horses was detained at a checkpoint established to combat livestock theft, reports the national portal “Adyrna.”

The incident occurred around 4:00 a.m. on November 2. Police stopped a KAMAZ truck driven by a 57-year-old driver for inspection. Accompanying him were a 57-year-old city resident and his 29-year-old son.

Upon inspection, 40 horses were found in the truck. According to the driver, the horses belonged to the 57-year-old passenger; however, this individual was unable to provide ownership documents for the animals. The investigation revealed that the horses were being transported from winter pastures in the Aktogay district to be sold in Karaganda.

Criminal police officers shared photos of the animals with the Aktogay district office and in local village chat groups. One of the villagers, upon seeing the photos, recognized two of the horses as his own and immediately informed the police.

Currently, all the animals are being held under police protection at a stable in the village of Ushtobe. A criminal case has been opened, and the investigation is ongoing to identify other potential victims and those involved in the crime.
