According to the Ministry of Health of Uzbekistan, at 02:43 (03:43 Astana time), a fire broke out in one of the warehouses in the city of Daha, Sirgeli district of Tashkent due to a strong explosion.
The victims of the fire were taken to the Republican Emergency Medical Research Center and its Tashkent regional branch, the Ministry of Health reported.
Also, doctors are assisting the victims at the fire site and nearby houses.
Earlier, the media reported that the explosion occurred in the customs warehouse in Tashkent, where there were a large number of employees at that time. Neighboring houses were badly damaged. After the explosion, almost nothing remained of the customs terminal building at the Tashkent airport.
According to preliminary information, the explosion in Tashkent was caused by a lightning strike in a warehouse of electric cars and their batteries.
