The German government issued a diplomatic note refusing to negotiate reparations with Poland for damages caused during World War II.
Poland, in turn, expressed its intention to "continue efforts to settle the debts that arose as a result of German aggression and occupation in the period from 1939 to 1945."
In early September, it was reported that Poland had formally filed its claim for World War II damages from Germany following a controversial report estimating roughly $1.3 trillion in damages from the Nazi regime.
In addition to the payment of reparations, the Polish authorities demand compensation for the damage to the victims of aggression and German occupation and their families.
