Russia’s secret “Kosmos-2553” satellite, which has been linked to a Kremlin program allegedly developing a new type of space weapon with nuclear components, may have malfunctioned, reports the national portal “Adyrna.” This was reported by Reuters, citing analytical data. Russia launched the “Kosmos-2553” satellite into orbit in February 2022, shortly before the start of the war in Ukraine. U.S. authorities stated that the satellite was connected to Russia’s plans to deploy nuclear weapons in space capable of destroying American satellites. The Kremlin has denied these accusations. Unusual movements of the “Kosmos-2553” satellite were recorded in November 2024 through radar monitoring by the company LeoLabs. Additional observations conducted in December confirmed with high confidence that the satellite was “tumbling uncontrollably.”
