Arman Bektemirov, the head of the state forest natural reserve (reserve) "Ertys Ormani" was suspected of receiving a bribe, the national portal "Adyrna" reported.
This was announced today, February 6, 2024, by the Anti-Corruption Agency of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
"It was found that the bribe-taker organized a criminal scheme to bribe businessmen for illegal cutting and sale of commercial trees. On January 26 of this year, with the sanction of the investigative court, the head of the reserve was detained in a temporary detention center for two months," the report said.
Also, a pre-trial investigation is being conducted against five accountants of the reserve, who are suspected of having embezzled a large amount of budget funds in the amount of 25 millions tenge by calculating and transferring salaries to their card accounts, the accounts of current and former employees of the institution in the period 2021-2023. A pre-trial investigation is being conducted.
