Adylbek Kasymaliev has been appointed as the Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan by presidential decree from Sadyr Japarov, reports the Adyrna national portal, citing 24.kg news agency.

Adylbek Kasymaliev was born on December 1, 1960, in the Tyup district of Issyk-Kul region. He graduated from the Leningrad Institute of Finance and Economics with a degree in economics. From 2015 to 2018, he served as Kyrgyzstan’s Minister of Finance. In 2021–2022, he was the Deputy Chief of Staff of the Presidential Administration and, in 2022, became the Acting First Deputy Prime Minister.

On December 18, during a session of the Jogorku Kenesh, President Sadyr Japarov explained the resignation of the former Prime Minister. He linked it to an investigation involving the leadership and staff of the State Tax Service.

“We were deeply concerned about negative practices in the tax system. Fraudulent activities related to excise stamps came to light. This sector was overseen by Akylbek Japarov, and he could have put an end to these illegal actions. I had to remove him from office to avoid conflicts of interest during the investigation,” said the President.

It is worth noting that on December 16, the Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, Akylbek Japarov, stepped down from his position.
