South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol’s aides and key administrative officials resigned en masse on Wednesday, according to Yonhap News, as reported by the “Adyrna” national portal.

Around ten senior officials from the South Korean presidential administration stepped down, including Presidential Chief of Staff Jeong Jin Seok, National Security Advisor Shin Won Sik, Chief of Political Affairs Son Tae Yoon, and seven other senior aides.

These resignations followed President Yoon Suk Yeol’s declaration of martial law on the evening of December 3, during which he accused the opposition of being “anti-state forces.” He claimed that the opposition was attempting to destabilize the country by leveraging legislative processes, such as budget cuts and an impeachment proposal.

However, South Korea’s National Assembly rejected the proposal to implement a state of emergency, voting against it. As a result, the president announced an end to the martial law six hours later.
