Kazakhs who bought an expensive apartment in Dubai will be checked by competent authorities. The Vice Minister of Finance Yerzhan Birzhanov said about this, the national portal "Adyrna" reports.
MP Rinat Zaitov told the Majilis that wealthy Kazakhstanis bought expensive real estate from abroad.
"You may have seen it (on social networks). Kazakhs with about 3,000 apartments were identified in Dubai (UAE). The apartment costs at least 500 million tenge. Why are there no taxes for people who own real estate abroad, why are they not taxed?" - he said.
Vice Minister of Finance Yerzhan Birzhanov noted that the competent authorities will investigate this issue.
"Why don't you collect taxes from other countries?" you are asking. First, "Is the creation of property legal or illegal?" I believe that the (Assets Return) Committee under the General Prosecutor's Office is now using it in its work. This is the property of our oligarchs, or it may be property obtained illegally and criminally. It will be checked by law enforcement agencies," said the deputy minister.
Second, property tax is collected at the place of residence.
"For example, if a citizen of Dubai buys an apartment, the UAE will not ask for his tax. We will ask for it. Therefore, the tax is collected according to the place of residence. If you have a house in a village, you pay taxes to the budget of that district," explained the vice-minister.
