Li Yuding, a representative of the Chinese company CNNC, among the candidates for the construction of a nuclear power plant in Kazakhstan, shared his experience, the national portal "Adyrna" reported.
The deputy chief representative of the China National Nuclear Company announced that the cost of construction of one nuclear power plant with a capacity of 1 GW in Kazakhstan will be 20 billion yuan (1.359 trillion tenge or 2.8 billion dollars at the current exchange rate of the National Bank), and the construction work will last five years.
"One block is worth 20 billion yuan. The construction will take five years," Li Yuding, a representative of the Chinese CNNC company, told the Kursiv website reporter at the KazAtomExpo exhibition.
Thus, if a Chinese contractor is chosen for the construction, it is planned to build a nuclear power plant in Kazakhstan until 2035. It was said that the cost of construction of a nuclear power plant consisting of two blocks with a total capacity of 2 GW will be 5.6 billion dollars. The Republic initially announced the estimated cost of the 2.4 GW nuclear power plant at $10 billion and a 10-year construction period. But later experts, in particular, representatives of Kazakhstan nuclear power plants LLP (KAES, a subsidiary of "Samruk-Kazyna") gradually increased it to 15 billion dollars.
