Amina Kairatkyzy and Akerke Bekbergenova, students of the 10th grade of the Nazarbayev Intellectual School in Taldykorgan, developed a prototype of a solar orbital sailboat.
The project won the 3rd place at the international competition on space technologies and equipment "Kazakhstan Smart" in Almaty.
This work, according to young roboticists, is devoted to the topic of saving fuel in spacecraft due to the use of solar wind.
We developed a solar sail - a device that uses the effect of the pressure of sunlight. In space, sunlight consists of particles called photons. Each of them, when hitting a hard surface, creates pressure that is capable of pushing objects forward, - say the authors of the project.
It is worth noting that the use of this technology will make it possible to make the longest space flights, since for movement in outer space the equipment will not need to have a large supply of fuel on board - the source of movement will be everywhere and on an unlimited scale.
The competition was held on the basis of the country's leading technical university Satbayev University. More than 200 people from CIS countries took part in the competition.
This is the first victory of the student. Amina Kairatovna was awarded the Grand Prix at the International Robotics Competition "KAZAKHSTAN International Robotics Competition" for the project "Robotized Garbage Sorting System".
