The Department of Economic Investigation and Inspection of the city of Almaty is conducting actions against the illegal circulation of alcoholic products, the national portal "Adyrna" reports.
Illegal alcohol products are often produced in underground shops and sold to the market as low-quality products at reduced prices.
In total, in 2022, the activities of 9 underground shops where illegal alcohol products were made were detected in Almaty. During the urgent search measures, more than 600,000 suspicious alcoholic products were confiscated, and more than 10,000 fake excise stamps were confiscated.
Underground workshops were often located in compact areas on the outskirts of Almaty, made their products in unsanitary conditions, and sold them to small shops in the city at prices lower than market prices.
