On November 19, the "first concrete" pouring ceremony for the foundation of power unit No. 2 was held at the "El-Dabaa" NPP site in Egypt. The construction of the second power unit has reached the main stage, the national portal "Adyrna" wrote.
The ceremony was attended by the Egyptian Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy Muhammad Shaker, Chairman of the Egyptian Nuclear Power Plant Authority (NPPA) Amged El-Wakil, General Director of Rosatom State Corporation Alexey Likhachev, Senior Vice President of ASE JSC for NPP Construction Project Management Alexander Korchagin, as well as The design teams of the state corporation "Rosatom" and the engineering division of NPPA also participated.
Earlier, on October 31, 2022, the Nuclear and Radiological Regulatory Authority of Egypt approved the construction of the second power unit of the El-Dabaa nuclear power plant, which allowed the start of concrete pouring.
"Egyptian and Russian teams are showing high professionalism and are completing work ahead of schedule. An important technological event, such as the pouring of the first concrete for the foundation of the second power unit, coincides with the birthday of the Egyptian President Abdelfattah Sisi, who is the ideological leader of this and many other megaprojects implemented in Egypt to this day. "I am sure that the nuclear power plant will make a great contribution to the qualitative improvement of the standard of living in the country and will allow Egypt to take a rightful place among the technological leaders of the region," said Mohammed Shaker.
