Kazakhstan’s men’s boxing team members Sanzhar Tashkenbay and Makhmud Sabyrkhan have advanced to the finals of the World Championships taking place in Liverpool, United Kingdom, reports “Adyrna.”
In the 50 kg semifinal, Sanzhar Tashkenbay faced Cuba’s Alejandro Claro Fiz. Following the bout, Tashkenbay secured victory by the judges’ decision. Thus, he will now compete for the gold medal in the 50 kg weight category.
Meanwhile, Makhmud Sabyrkhan fought China’s Liu Chuan in the 55 kg semifinal. From the very first round, Sabyrkhan stunned his opponent with heavy punches. Maintaining an impressive display of boxing throughout the second and third rounds, the Kazakh athlete won by the judges’ decision.
Makhmud Sabyrkhan will now contend for the world championship gold medal in the 55 kg weight division.
