Ahmad Masood, the leader of Afghanistan's National Resistance Front, which opposes the radical Taliban, which has seized power in the country (banned in the Russian Federation and the Republic of Tatarstan), is currently in Tajikistan. Kabir Wasik, a former deputy governor of the northern province of Panjshir, said in an interview with TASS on Monday, Adyrna national portal reported.

"Ahmad Masood is currently in Tajikistan, but sometimes he goes to Afghanistan and meets with resistance groups in different parts of the country," a police spokesman said.

According to him, Masood is now trying to gain the support of various states to fight the Taliban. "Masood is trying to convince the countries of the region and the international community as a whole to fight the Taliban," he said. He is going to different countries to get attention and support (on the National Resistance Front), "Vasik said.

The former deputy governor of Panjshir said he had good relations with Tajikistan and that he had "always helped and continues to help the Afghan people in the fight against the Taliban."

On October 29, several Tajik media outlets reported the opening of a front office in Dushanbe. The Tajik Foreign Ministry later commented on media reports about the opening of an Afghan resistance office in Dushanbe.

The diplomatic mission said that they had no information about the opening of an office of the Afghan National Resistance Front in the Tajik capital.
