President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev met with Shen Yanfen, the CEO of CNNC. This was reported by the Akorدا press service on March 17, according to “Adyrna” news agency.
During the meeting with the head of China National Nuclear Corporation (CNNC), the two sides discussed prospects for cooperation in the field of nuclear energy.
Tokayev introduced Kazakhstan’s plans for the development of this sector and highlighted the recent decision to establish a Nuclear Energy Agency, which aims to systematically implement this strategic task for the national economy.
The President also noted Kazakhstan’s interest in CNNC’s expertise, as the People’s Republic of China is a global leader in nuclear energy.
In turn, Shen Yanfen provided information about CNNC’s projects in China and abroad. The discussion also covered the study of advanced technologies for the peaceful use of nuclear energy and the training of Kazakh specialists in this field.
