Starting from June 2025, the UK will ban the sale of disposable electronic cigarettes, reports “Adyrna” national portal, citing The Guardian.

These devices increase the risk of fires. According to data, 13 disposable e-cigarettes are discarded every second in the UK, amounting to over a million per day.

Experts say the batteries in disposable devices can cause fires in garbage collection vehicles or recycling centers. Such incidents have increased by 71% this year compared to 2022.

Environmentalists consider disposable e-cigarettes harmful and inefficient. They contain lithium and copper, resources that could power over 10,000 vehicles. However, these materials are not being recycled and end up in landfills.

English activists believe more awareness is needed about proper vape disposal.

As a result, from June 2025, only rechargeable devices and e-cigarettes with refillable cartridges will be allowed for sale in the UK.
