Access to the Instagram social network was banned in Turkey on the morning of August 2. Such a decision was made by the Information Technologies and Communications Department of Turkey (BTK), the national portal "Adyrna" reported.

The reasons and duration of the ban are not mentioned on the website of the department.

According to local media reports, this decision may be due to the fact that Instagram has banned condolences for the killing of Ismail Hania, one of the leaders of the terrorist group Hamas in Iran.

Recently, Fahrettin Altun, the head of the communications department of the Turkish presidential administration, accused the social network of "censoring".

Let's recall that the head of the political bureau of Hamas, Ismail Hania, was killed in Tehran on the night of July 31. He, along with other Hamas leaders, is one of those responsible for the October 7, 2023 attack on Israel.
