Marat Akhmetzhanov has been appointed to the position of Minister of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the national portal "Adyrna" reported.

"By the decree of the head of state, Marat Muratovich Akhmetzhanov was appointed to the position of the Minister of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan," it was written on the website of Akorda.

Akhmetzhanov Marat Muratovich was born on December 22, 1964. In 1991, he graduated from Karaganda State University named after E. A. Buketov, a lawyer.

He started his career as an intern in 1991, and later worked as an investigator at the Prosecutor's Office of Temirtau.

1993-1996 - Senior investigator of the special anti-corruption prosecutor's office under the General Prosecutor's Office for serious cases, head of the regional investigators department of the Directorate of Serious Crimes Investigation of the General Prosecutor's Office.

1996-1997 - Head of the Department of Investigation of High Risk Crimes of the State Investigative Committee, Head of the Investigation Department of the Military Investigation Department of the State Investigative Committee.

1997-1998 - Head of the Investigation Department of the Military Investigation Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

1998-2001 - Deputy Director of the Investigation Department and Deputy Chairman of the Committee for the Execution of Court Decisions of the Ministry of Justice.

2006-2009 - Prosecutor of South Kazakhstan region.

2009-2012 - Chairman of the Committee on Legal Statistics and Special Accounting of the General Prosecutor's Office of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

2012-2014 - Deputy Chairman of the Agency for Combating Economic Crime and Corruption of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

2014-2016 - Head of the Department of Public Service Affairs and Anti-Corruption Actions of Atyrau Region, Head of the Department of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Atyrau Region.

2016-2021 - Deputy Prosecutor General of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

From April 16, 2021, he became the chairman of the Anti-Corruption Agency (Anti-Corruption Service) of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Since February 25, 2022, he has been holding the position of Minister of Internal Affairs.
