Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev was briefed on the main results of the agency's activities this month, the tasks for the coming period and measures to implement the Decree on reforming the National Security Committee.
Yermek Sagimbayev reported to the President on the international anti-terrorist operations of the KNB, measures aimed at preventing the illicit trafficking of drugs and weapons, including those stolen during the January events, and strengthening the state borders.
According to the President, as a result of the measures taken, a number of international and regional drug trafficking routes were closed, more than 15 kg of illicit psychotropic substances and 4 tons of precursors were seized. The activities of criminal groups involved in the sale of weapons and ammunition were stopped, and caches were identified.
In order to maintain the level of combat readiness of the Central Counter-Terrorism Headquarters, 3 command-staff and 29 operational-tactical exercises were held. 632 offenders were detained during the border patrol. In addition, more than 11 km of poaching equipment was seized in the Caspian Sea.
Illegal circulation of currency and gold worth more than 230 million tenge, goods worth 77.9 million tenge and fuel and lubricants worth 2.5 million tenge was prevented.
The Head of State was also briefed on the implementation of the instructions on reforming the National Security Committee, including the implementation of the necessary structural changes in key operational services to ensure the implementation of the country's leadership and increase efficiency in this area.
