Mohammed Al-Bashir, acting Prime Minister of Syria, announced that the composition of a provisional government has been formed, reports Adyrna national portal, citing RIA Novosti.

“A provisional government has been established, consisting of several ministers from the ‘Salvation Government.’ This government will function until March 2025, or until constitutional issues are resolved,” he said.

Earlier, on Tuesday, Al-Bashir had declared his appointment as head of the government.

According to him, the responsibilities of the government include ensuring security, maintaining the stability of state institutions, preventing the country’s disintegration, and providing services to citizens until a new cabinet is formed.

Al-Bashir noted that he counts on the assistance of former government ministers and acknowledged that the government faces numerous challenges.

The ‘Salvation Government’ was created by armed opposition forces. Its authority extends to areas under the control of armed groups in Idlib province and northern Aleppo province. The official Syrian government, however, was led by Prime Minister Muhammad Ghazi Al-Jalali.

After Damascus came under the control of the armed opposition, Al-Jalali, along with several ministers, announced their intention to remain in the country and establish communication with the leadership of the armed opposition.

Preliminary talks among representatives of the groups now in power in Syria have focused on the transfer of authority and the prevention of anarchy. Among the proposed measures is the disbanding of all military groups and their unification under the control of the Military Operations Directorate.

It should be noted that Bashar al-Assad had fled Syria. According to the Russian Foreign Ministry, President Bashar al-Assad had engaged in negotiations with some conflict participants and decided to step down and leave the country. Moscow did not participate in these negotiations.

Later, sources in the Kremlin informed RIA Novosti that Assad, along with his family, had arrived in the Russian capital, where they were granted asylum for humanitarian reasons.
