President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev wrote an article for the French newspaper Le Figaro, highlighting key areas of cooperation between Kazakhstan and France, as reported by the Adyrna national portal.

Tokayev’s article, titled “Kazakhstan – A Strategic and Reliable Partner for France,” was published ahead of his first state visit to Paris. The President emphasized Kazakhstan’s role in international diplomacy and addressed global challenges such as climate change and migration. He also highlighted the importance of strengthening the role of “middle powers” on the global stage, stating that Kazakhstan follows a balanced foreign policy and supports peacekeeping processes.

Tokayev noted mutual interest between Kazakhstan and France in areas such as rare earth metals production, “green” energy, and the nuclear industry. He emphasized that a referendum on building a nuclear power plant in Kazakhstan could provide opportunities to bolster Europe’s energy security. Last year, French President Emmanuel Macron visited Kazakhstan, where both sides discussed these fields of cooperation.

As a reminder, during Macron’s visit to Kazakhstan last year, President Tokayev gifted him two Kazakh Tazy puppies, which Macron named Jules and Jeanne.
