After the positive decision of the onomastic commission, a solemn event was held in the military department with the participation of the leadership of the Ministry of Defense and administration of the Zhetysu region, the command of the Air Defense Forces, servicemen and veterans of the armed forces. A bust of Sergei Luhansky was unveiled on the territory of the military department. The opening ceremony was attended by Minister of Defense Colonel-General Ruslan Zhaksylykov, Governor of the region Beibit Isabayev, Hero of the Soviet Union, People's Hero of Aviation Major General Toktar Aubakirov and People's Hero of Aviation Major General Aydyn Ayymbetov and members of parliament. They placed flowers on the hero's bust and remembered it with a minute of silence.
