Ex-vice minister Shkarupa compensated 10 millions tenge from the Ministry of Finance

The district court of Astana made a decision on the civil claim of the former vice-minister of energy Anatoly Shkarupa for recovery of moral damages. This was announced on the Facebook page of Astana courts, the national portal "Adyrna" reported.

Based on the information, the plaintiff was declared innocent due to lack of proof of involvement in the commission of the crime. In this sentence, the acquitted plaintiff has the right to recover damages caused by the illegal actions of the body that conducted the criminal case.

It should be noted that in 2018, Shkarupa was arrested by the operative investigation team of the General Prosecutor's Office and detained in the detention center with the sanction of the investigative court. The official was accused of embezzling 215 millions tenge. Kairat Kozhamzharov served as the Chief Prosecutor at that time.

And on January 26, 2021, the Kazybek Bi District Court of Karaganda found A. Shkarupa not guilty of committing the crime referred to in Article 189, Clause 4, Clause 2 of the Criminal Code, and acquitted him due to the absence of a criminal offense.

In February of the same year, the Karaganda regional court panel on criminal cases left the verdict of the first instance unchanged.

"The court partially satisfied the demand. 10 millions tenge will be collected from the Ministry of Finance as compensation for moral damages," said the distributed information.

On February 26, 2021, the Kazybek Bi District Court of Karaganda acquitted Anatoly Shkarupa.
