The Head of State, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, will deliver a speech at the fifth meeting of the National Kurultai to be held on January 20. This was announced by the President’s Assistant and Press Secretary, Ruslan Zheldibay, Adyrna reports.

“At the gathering on the Syr Darya, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev will speak and share his views on Kazakhstan’s future development direction and the pressing issues facing society,” he wrote.

It should be recalled that in June 2022, the Head of State decided to establish the National Kurultai. The main purpose of this advisory and consultative body under the President is to discuss key issues that determine the country’s development path.

Previously, the first four meetings of the Kurultai were held in Ulytau, Turkistan, Atyrau, and Burabay.

At the initiative of the National Kurultai, several important legislative proposals have been adopted. These include laws aimed at strengthening women’s rights and ensuring children’s safety, a ban on the sale of vapes, as well as laws related to state awards and onomastics.

Experts predict that at the Kurultai meeting in Kyzylorda, the date for a nationwide referendum concerning the legislative body may be announced.
