Work is underway in Kazakhstan to develop a new design for the national passport, reports Adyrna National Portal.
According to State Secretary Erlan Karin, the current passport design has been in use for 17 years.

When the new document is introduced, its cost will remain unchanged, and there will be no mass replacement. Passports with the new design will be issued only to citizens whose passports have expired, been damaged, or upon personal request.

“While developing the new design, international standards and modern trends were taken into account: a minimalist style, background images on visa pages, and new security elements against forgery. The new passport concept reflects Kazakhstan’s unique identity, national character, cultural diversity, and landmarks. The design will be presented soon,” wrote Erlan Karin.

Currently, holders of the Kazakhstani passport can travel to 79 countries without a visa.
