Kazakh director Aysultan Seyitov won the "Best Director" nomination at the 25th anniversary Shanghai International Film Festival with his debut film "KASH". This was written by the Ministry of Culture and Sports, the correspondent of "Adyrna" reported.

The film "KASH" was shortlisted and won three nominations in the category of Asian New Talent: Best Film — Aisultan Seitov; Best Director — Aisultan Seitov; Best Script Writer — Ablay Nurmanbetov," said the press service of the board.

Aisultan Seyitov, chief producer of Qara Studios Yerkebulan Kurishbaev and screenwriter Abylai Nurmanbetov presented the work in the festival program.

Filming of the film "KASH" began in 2020, and in 2022 it was released in general distribution in Kazakhstan. The film was warmly welcomed by the audience and received a number of awards from Kazakhstani film critics. The work of art narrates the tragedy of mass famine in the Kazakh steppes in 1931-1933 through the personal story of two brothers.

The Shanghai Film Festival is China's largest film festival with an extensive international program and is one of the most prestigious international film festivals. This year it was held from June 9 to 18.
