The issue of extinguishing the fire, which has been burning for the fifth day , was discussed in Mangistau, the correspondent of "Adyrna"reported.
On June 13, the mayor of Mangistau region held an emergency meeting regarding the fire that broke out during drilling in the South Karaturyn oil and gas field in the northwestern part of the Bozashi peninsula. The Council was attended by the Vice Minister of Energy Askhat Khasenov, representatives of the management of "KazMunayGas" JSC, "Uzenmunaygaz" JSC and other divisions and contractors of this company.
They suggested measures to extinguish the fire. Oleksandr Kasyanenko, chief geologist of "Bozachi Neft" LLP, suggested filling the well pit with heavy drilling fluid or additional lateral drilling of the well. Some participants speculated that the fire might self-extinguish due to reduced gas pressure.
