Society activist, anti-corruption fighter Didar Smagulov said that 10 days before the fire, the court sentenced three leaders of the "Semey Ormany" institution on charges of creating a corrupt organized criminal group, "Adyrna" national portal reported with reference to the Ulysmedia.kz website.
According to Smagulov, the verdict was issued on May 29. Each of them was sentenced to 10 years in prison.
They created a whole corrupt organized criminal group, which collected fees from entrepreneurs from 700,000 tenge to 13,000,000,000 tenge, including the signing of public procurement contracts. It is clear that under such management, the employees were not provided with everything necessary for safety, and perhaps that is why such a tragic situation occurred. Here, one false signature in the act on state procurement can lead to terrible consequences, - said Smagulov.
He also said that the embezzled money could be used for various early fire detection systems.
