Trump and Biden both declare victory

Both presidential candidates are declaring victory in the US election. However, counting is still ongoing in several states.

Joe Biden has led the way in 21 states: Nevada, Maine, Vermont, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut, Delaware, New Jersey, New York, Maryland, Virginia, Illinois, New Mexico, Arizona, In Washington, California, Oregon, Hawaii and the District of Columbia.

Donald Trump leads 29 states: Iowa, Alaska, Wisconsin, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Florida, Pennsylvania, Texas, Ohio, Michigan, Indiana, West Virginia, Kentucky, Tennessee, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana. Kansas, Nebraska, Wyoming, Utah, Montana, South Dakota, North Dakota and Idaho.

With the exception of Alaska (23%), these states account for more than 60% of the vote.

While speaking at the White House, Trump said he would win in the following states: Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Georgia and Michigan. According to him, his opponents can not hide their backwardness. Trump also said that his team is ready to celebrate a great victory. "We won this election. But we want our victory to be protected by law," he said.

Votes in by-elections to Congress are still being counted, but Republicans still have a big majority in the House of Representatives and parties in the Senate.

Protests are also taking place in the White House.
