It has been revealed that about 70% of Kazakhstan’s oil is exported to European Union countries. This was announced during the Kazakhstan-Slovenia Business Forum attended by President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and Slovenian President Nataša Pirc Musar, as reported by the national portal “Adyrna.”

The Head of State emphasized that Kazakhstan and Slovenia have established strong political and diplomatic relations based on mutual respect over the past 30 years. According to the President, during the negotiations, both parties confirmed their commitment to strengthening economic cooperation for the benefit of both nations.

Kazakhstan – One of the Region’s Fastest-Growing Economies:
• In 2024, economic growth reached 4.8%.
• The country’s GDP reached $288 billion.
• Kazakhstan aims to maintain this growth by continuing political and economic reforms.

Kazakhstan’s Role as a Leading Trade and Logistics Hub in Eurasia:
• The volume of freight transportation through Kazakhstan reached 514 billion ton-kilometers.
• Kazakhstan facilitates 90% of land-based trade between Europe and China.
• Cargo shipments through Aktau and Kuryk ports increased by 62% (reaching 4.5 million tons).
• Plans are in place to strengthen cooperation with Slovenia’s largest port, Koper.

Promising Directions in Industry and Energy:
• Nearly 70% of Kazakhstan’s oil is exported to the European Union.
• Proven natural gas reserves amount to 3 trillion cubic meters, while coal reserves total 34 billion tons.
• Kazakhstan produces 19 out of 34 rare minerals essential for the EU economy.
• The country is forming partnerships with leading global companies under a “raw materials in exchange for investment and technology” approach.
• Green energy projects are developing rapidly with the participation of Total, Eni, Masdar, and Svevind Energy Group.
• Slovenia’s Iskra and Gorenje companies are successfully operating in Kazakhstan.

Agriculture and Food Security:
• Kazakhstan’s agricultural products are exported to over 70 countries.
• Plans to transform the agro-industrial sector into a high-tech industry were discussed.
• Kazakhstan intends to launch joint investment projects with Slovenian partners.

Pharmaceuticals and IT:
• Kazakhstan is interested in developing pharmaceutical production with Slovenian companies such as Krka and Lek.
• The country also aims to collaborate with Slovenian IT companies in scientific research, startups, and technological education.

Finance and Investment:
• Representatives of Slovenian business groups were invited to explore the Astana International Financial Centre’s potential and join its ecosystem.
