Starting from January 1, 2025, Kazakhstan will officially receive the status of a partner state in BRICS, as announced by Russian President’s aide Yuri Ushakov, reports the national portal “Adyrna.”
According to the information, along with Kazakhstan, eight other countries have accepted the invitation to become BRICS partners, including Belarus, Indonesia, Uzbekistan, and Cuba.
“One of the key outcomes of the summit in Kazan was the establishment of the BRICS partner country category and the agreement on a list of 13 countries. Relevant invitations have been sent to these nations. So far, Belarus, Bolivia, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Cuba, Malaysia, Thailand, Uganda, and Uzbekistan have announced their readiness to become BRICS partner states,” Ushakov told journalists.
This status allows representatives of the new partners to participate in exclusive meetings of BRICS summits, meetings of foreign ministers, high-level representatives responsible for security, and other events organized by the association.
Responses from four other countries, to which similar invitations have been sent, are expected soon.
It is worth noting that Berik Uali, Adviser to the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan and Press Secretary, previously stated that the head of state had received proposals to consider Kazakhstan’s integration into the BRICS structure. The President is reportedly evaluating this proposal carefully, considering Kazakhstan’s national interests.
