The number of dead seals along the Caspian Sea coast continues to rise, as reported by the national portal “Adyrna.”

Between October 24 and 29, staff from the Ural-Caspian Interregional Basin Fisheries Inspection, along with representatives from the Institute of Hydrobiology and Ecology, identified 289 seal carcasses during monitoring along the Caspian coast.

According to Andrey Rutskiy, Acting Head of the Mangystau Regional Fisheries Inspection, monitoring of the coastal area is ongoing, involving representatives from local executive bodies, the Institute of Hydrobiology and Ecology, and the Qazaq Balyk National Fisheries and Aquaculture Association. The causes of the seal deaths will be determined after the necessary laboratory studies are conducted.
