Factcheck.kz resource became Meta's first partner in Kazakhstan

Meta Corporation added Kazakhstan's Factcheck.kz to its viral disinformation and disinformation detection program to expose disinformation on Facebook, Instagram and Threads. This was announced by Factcheck.kz, the national portal "Adyrna" reports.

The third-party fact-checking program has been in operation since 2016. Since then, it has been joined by more than 100 independent organizations operating in more than 60 languages ​​worldwide and rigorously selected by the International Fact-Checking Network (IFCN). Participating fact-checkers in the program expose disinformation and rate it as false, partially false, or altered.

Meta has partnered with independent fact-checkers from around the world who verify the truth of content to effectively combat disinformation. Once fact-checkers rate information as false, partially false, or altered, Meta reduces the likelihood that users will see that news. This will help curb the spread of false information and reduce the number of people who see it. Pages, groups and accounts that often publish fake content will have less visibility, and their monetization and advertising opportunities will be limited. If a post is flagged as fake, Meta will alert people who see or want to share the post.

Important note: fact checkers are not involved in, and are not responsible for, deleting content or accounts or banning them on Meta platforms. Fact-checkers expose misinformation on Facebook, Instagram, and Threads, and assess the extent of misrepresentation. The process of verifying compliance with the rules of content and meta works separately from a third-party program that conducts independent fact-checking.

"Our work to reduce disinformation on Meta platforms continues, and today we are pleased that Factcheck.kz has joined Meta's third-party fact-checking program in Kazakhstan.
