A petition regarding the construction of a nuclear power plant in Kazakhstan is being discussed. Supporters of the new energy source are calling for public support.
Today, the construction of a nuclear power plant in Kazakhstan is being discussed with a bipartisan opinion. Residents of the Ulken village say that energy shortage is a global problem and nuclear power plant is the only way to fight this problem:
"We all remember that Ekibastuzts were left without light and heat in the middle of the frost. After 10 years, if measures are not taken today, half of the country will freeze in the cold. First, a nuclear power plant produces no greenhouse gases and it consumes much less fuel than a coal or natural gas plant. A nuclear reactor can produce the maximum amount of electricity 24/7 for 60 years or more.
Secondly, Nuclear energy is environmentally friendly and safe! It is recognized as green all over the world. Scientists confirm the safety and reliability of modern reactors. Thirdly, the construction of NPP leads to the development of the economy of the region and the country. The social sphere, science develops, new technologies, production appear. A whole city will appear in place of the ulken village.
