The Swiss company Novartis announced the death of two children in Russia and Kazakhstan during the treatment of spinal cord edema with the drug Zolgensma,  the national portal "Adirna" reported with reference to the RIA Novosti website.

It should be noted that Zolgensma is considered the most expensive drug in the world. The price of one dose is more than 2 million dollars. The drug is produced by the Swiss company "Novartis". This drug is included in the Guinness Book of Records as the most expensive drug in the world.

According to Novartis, they also wrote what caused the death of two children in Russia and Kazakhstan. Five to six weeks after inoculation of Zolgensma, acute liver failure began in children. As a result, both of them died.

Spinal muscular dystrophy is a hereditary disease. Until now, sick children have been taking expensive medicines all their lives. However, 50 percent of them die before the age of two.

And one dose of the drug "Zolgensma" stops the disease. It contains a copy of the SMN1 gene. It replaces a defective gene in the human body.
