President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev signed a Decree on the appointment of a republican referendum on June 5 on the draft amendments and additions to the Constitution of the country. The forthcoming constitutional reform is an important step in the implementation of the President's program of political reforms, set out in his March Address to the people of Kazakhstan.
The draft amendments and additions to the Constitution were developed by leading legal scholars and constitutionalists and received a positive conclusion from the Constitutional Council. The draft constitutional amendments are based on the requests of citizens and are being implemented in the interests of the whole society.
